Following recent resignations by two of our Community Governors, we are looking to recruit two high quality governors to join our Local Governing Board. We are looking for individuals who has the skill to act as a ‘critical friend’ and ask challenging questions about performance and use their skills and experience to support the schools in addressing their aims. You will be involved in creating and developing a strategic plan for the school, setting and agreeing its objectives, and monitoring and evaluating its success by focusing on progress and outcomes. Your role will also include collectively allocating and controlling the school budget as well as being influential in the appointment of staff.

If you are over 18, able to commit approximately 10-15 hours per term to the role we would be delighted to hear from you. You do not need to be a parent of a student at the schools. No prior knowledge is needed – training and support is offered and available to all new and existing governors.

This is an extremely rewarding role, one which holds great importance within our school and trust. If you feel that you have skills which could be transferred to help make a real difference to children’s lives, please contact us for further information.

The closing date for current applications is Friday 19th July 2019, 12pm.

There is a joint governing body for Dordon and Wood End Primary Schools. The role of governors within our schools is to be 'The Guardians of Standards'. Governors do not get involved in the processes within school, that manage it day by day. They are responsible for governing the outcomes and holding the school to account.
They are there to provide challenge to the school, to ensure the school is always acting in the best interests of the pupils in their care.
Meetings are held half termly and focus on key elements within the school including leadership and management, quality of teaching, safeguarding, behaviour and finance.
Governors will be seen regularly in school as they meet with school leaders, take part in recruitment activities or verify what they have heard from school in a meeting. They are very much part of the leadership of Dordon and Wood End and we welcome their support.
