Attendance Matters

Attendance Matters – Working Together for Our Children

We are really pleased to see our whole school attendance continuing to improve. Thank you to all of our families for your ongoing support — it truly makes a difference.

While there is a national focus on attendance, this isn’t just about meeting expectations set by the DfE. Most importantly, it is about ensuring the very best outcomes for our children.

Good attendance has a direct impact on children’s learning and progress. When children are in school consistently, they build strong foundations in reading, writing and maths, develop confidence in their abilities and are less likely to feel anxious about missed learning. Being in school every day also helps children to develop resilience — they learn to manage routines, overcome small challenges and keep going even when things feel tricky.

Attendance is also vital for social development. School is where children build friendships, practise teamwork and strengthen their communication skills. Regular attendance helps them feel connected, valued and part of our school community.

Improving attendance is not about blame — it’s about partnership. When school and home work together as a team, we create the best possible environment for children to thrive both academically and socially.

If you are ever worried about your child’s attendance, or if there are challenges affecting their ability to come to school, please do talk to us. We are here to listen and to work with you to find supportive solutions. Open communication makes a real difference.

Thank you for continuing to work with us to make every day count.
