Black History Month

Black History Month

This October, we are proud to be celebrating Black History Month here at Dordon. This is an important time for our school community to reflect, learn, and celebrate the achievements, culture, and contributions of Black individuals throughout history and in our world today.

The children across all year groups took part in a range of activities and learning opportunities linked to Black history and culture. These included:

  • Learning about key historical figures such as Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, and Mary Seacole
  • Exploring art, music, and literature
  • Class discussions about equality, respect, and celebrating diversity
  • Assembly focused on inspirational role models and their stories

We believe it is vital to help children understand the importance of inclusion, respect and the rich diversity that shapes our society. Black History Month offers a meaningful opportunity to do just that.
