Every year, I make sure my diary is clear for two trips - Young Voices and Manor Adventure. On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of accompanying this year's choir from both schools. It was lovely to take Team Dordend out on a visit. The excitement among the children was palpable as they were getting ready to go.
We arrived at the BP Pulse Arena and the children spent from 2-5pm rehearsing for the performance. At 7pm the anticipation and the noise level grew. As the lights went out, and 6,000 torches started waving, you felt the magic in the air. Our children sang their hearts out and danced the night away. We returned to school buzzing from the experience. Thank you to all the parents who came to support us. We hope you enjoyed it as much as us!
Throughout the day, our children demonstrated outstanding behaviour. They were an attentive audience to the conductor and the visiting artists and really entered into the spirit of the occasion. As staff, we did not have to be crowd control - the children didn't need it. It was lovely to just watch them having such an amazing time!
Young Voices is more than just performance day. Our choirs have been rehearsing since September. This takes time and dedication from the teachers and the staff involved. I would like to thank Mrs Smith, Miss Fellows and Mrs Deakin for giving up one evening a week to practise with the children. And to Mrs Counihan and Mrs Duller who volunteered an evening to support the trip. Without these adults, our children would have missed out on a fabulous experience!
