Easter at Dordon

Easter at Dordon

We visited St Leonard’s Church this week and as always, it was a pleasure to see the children greet Reverend Liz, sing beautiful Easter songs and share springtime poems together. I always enjoy going to church and often reflect on our term when I am there. This time I thought about our teaching of British Values. Tolerance is one of the five values and it promotes the acceptance of different faiths and beliefs. Tolerance helps build a community where everyone feels respected and free to express their views. I watched the children today and was so proud of them. I never hear, ’I don’t want to go’ or ‘I don’t believe in God.’ Instead, I see children who are eager to be together and enjoy celebrating the end of term with the people in their community.

The Easter bonnet and KS2 egg celebrations also took place today. They are a delightful tradition that bring a splash of colour and creativity to Dordon before the Easter holiday. These events often involve a lot of crafting at home (thank you parents) and then having the opportunity to show off superb designs to the rest of the school. The House Captains had a tough job picking the winners today as there were some excellent ideas. Thank you to all families who took the time to make something at home, we really appreciate your participation.
