Lanterns of Remembrance

Lanterns of Remembrance

Mrs Cross, Mrs Smith from Wood End, and I visited the Arboretum this week to celebrate the launch of the Guiding Lights project that KS1 contributed to.

Guiding Lights is a Learning and Participation Project that brings a unique dimension to the Illuminated Arboretum, reflecting the National Memorial Arboretum’s commitment to being freely open to all. The project highlights the power of storytelling through collective creativity, working with a wide range of participants in schools and community settings to weave together the threads of arts, culture, history, and remembrance.

Over 1,000 local children joined the Arboretum on a captivating journey into the magic of light, discovering how light surrounds us, guides us, and helps us remember.

Children worked with an artist to design and decorate their own personal lights of remembrance—each one a glowing contribution to the stunning final installation at the Arboretum.

Take a look at the photo gallery or better still why not go along and take a look for yourself.

We are very proud of the children!
